New Summer Snorkelling Program!

Posted on December 14, 2010

Curriculum-based program for schools, or 'fun in the sun' for families

Grey Nurse Guardians is excited to launch a snorkelling program, just in time for Summer!

This one has been a long time coming, but we're purchasing a heap of snorkel sets so you can all stick you're head under and see what's below the surface! Don't worry, you'll get ample training and advice from experts, though you do need to be a competent swimmer.

The schools program fits well into the high school Geography and Biology curricula. Students swim along marked out transects, counting a range of invertebrates and other environmental data. They can then collate the diversity and abundance data they've collected. From here, it is made available to researchers from a number of universities and research institutes in Sydney. Data like this are very valuable to researchers, as they often don't have the capacity to collect general data themselves. *more info coming soon on the Programs page of the website.

We're also able to guide private or community groups in snorkelling trips at various Sydney sites.

All snorkelling trips are facilitated by our Marine Biologist as well as a qualified snorkelling instructor.
